About The Committee
The Transportation Committee of the Deanwood Citizens Association (DCA) is dedicated to addressing, discussing, and reviewing all transportation-related issues impacting Deanwood residents. Established as a key component of the DCA, the committee plays a vital role in advocating for improvements that enhance the connectivity, safety, and quality of all transportation modes in the Deanwood neighborhood. Our efforts are grounded in the rich history and civic spirit that have characterized the Deanwood Citizens Association since its founding in 1912.
What We Focus On
Advocacy for Funding
Seeking and securing local, state, and federal funding opportunities for transportation improvements for the Deanwood and Ward 7 residents.
Establishing and maintaining partnerships with government agencies, non-profits, and other stakeholders to leverage resources and expertise.
Enhancing Connectivity
Promoting better connectivity through shared roadways, bike lanes, and transit options.
Investigating transportation-related issues and reviewing plans, policies, and proposals that impact Deanwood residents.
Advocating for policies at the local and District levels to support transportation improvements.
Monitoring the implementation of transportation projects to ensure they meet the community’s needs and expectations.
Improving Safety
Enhancing the safety of our roads, sidewalks, and other transportation infrastructure.
Leveraging Innovation
Utilizing innovative solutions and partnerships to address transportation challenges.
Developing and promoting initiatives aimed at improving road and sidewalk safety for all users, including pedestrians, cyclists, and motorists.
Community Engagement
Encouraging community involvement and feedback on transportation projects and policies.
Organizing meetings, forums, and surveys to gather input from Deanwood residents and ensure their voices are heard in transportation planning.
Join Our Committe
Membership in the Transportation Committee is open to all members of the Deanwood Citizens Association who have an interest in improving transportation in the Deanwood area. Members are expected to:
Participate Actively: Attend regular committee meetings and contribute to discussions and activities.
Engage with the Community: Help organize and participate in community outreach efforts.
Collaborate: Work with other committee members and stakeholders to achieve common goals.
Stay Informed: Keep abreast of current transportation issues, trends, and innovations.
