Public Spaces and Beautification Committee

About The Committee

The Public Spaces and Beautification Committee of the Deanwood Citizens Association is dedicated to enhancing the beauty and livability of our neighborhood. With a commitment to fostering community pride and improving quality of life, our committee focuses on various aspects of maintenance and beautification throughout Deanwood. From organizing Clean up and Green up activities to coordinating the annual Deanwood Beautification Day, we actively engage residents and stakeholders in initiatives that promote a cleaner, greener, and more attractive environment. Additionally, we play a pivotal role in addressing 311 requests for concerns regarding illegal dumping, missed trash pickups, grass cutting, tree trimming, and other issues impacting the cleanliness and aesthetics of our community.

What We Focus On

Neighborhood Beautification

  • Conceptualize and oversee beautification projects, ensuring they align with the aesthetic vision and needs of the community.

  • Forge partnerships with local stakeholders and secure necessary resources to bring beautification initiatives to fruition.

  • Explore opportunities for public art installations, murals, and other creative projects that celebrate the community's culture and identity.

Maintenance and Upkeep

  • Address concerns related to illegal dumping, missed trash collection, overgrown vegetation, and other maintenance issues by working closely with relevant city agencies and coordinating community efforts.

  • Conduct neighborhood assessments to identify areas in need of maintenance, beautification, or cleanup efforts.

  • Collaborate with relevant city agencies and officials to ensure timely resolution of maintenance issues.

  • Organize community clean-up events to rid our streets, sidewalks, parks, and other public areas of litter, graffiti, and other unsightly debris.

Community Engagement

  • Foster a sense of community ownership and pride by involving residents in beautification projects, encouraging volunteerism, and promoting a shared responsibility for maintaining the neighborhood's public spaces.

  • Mobilize volunteers to participate in a range of activities, including landscaping, mural painting, flower planting, and street cleaning.

Environmental Stewardship

  • Promote environmental awareness and sustainable practices within the community, encouraging residents to adopt eco-friendly habits and participate in initiatives that protect and preserve our natural surroundings.
