About The Committee
The Public Safety Committee of the Deanwood Citizens Association is dedicated to fostering a secure and thriving community for all residents. We serve as a bridge between the neighborhood and the Sixth District Precinct of the Metropolitan Police Department, working collaboratively to address public safety concerns and promote a sense of security throughout Deanwood. Our goal is to collaborate with law enforcement and community stakeholders to address safety concerns and implement proactive measures to prevent crime.
What We Focus On
Community Engagement
Serve as a bridge between residents and law enforcement, facilitating communication and collaboration.
Build and maintain relationships with MPD’s Sixth District Precinct and community stakeholders to foster collaboration and address public safety concerns.
Facilitate open communication between residents, law enforcement, and relevant agencies to address public safety issues proactively.
Crime Prevention
Analyze crime trends and work with MPD’s Sixth District Precinct to develop strategies to prevent criminal activity in the community.
Provide resources and information to residents to help them protect themselves and their property from crime.
Emergency Preparedness
Organize educational events and distribute resources to raise awareness about emergency preparedness and ensure residents are equipped to respond effectively to emergencies.
Coordinate with emergency management agencies and community organizations to conduct training exercises.
Collaborate with emergency management agencies to develop and implement emergency preparedness plans for Deanwood.
Advocacy
Advocate for policies and resources that support public safety efforts within the Deanwood community, such as increased police presence, improved lighting, and infrastructure enhancements.

Membership in the Public Safety Committee is open to all Deanwood residents who are passionate about promoting a safe and secure community. We welcome individuals with diverse backgrounds and experiences, including law enforcement professionals, community organizers, and concerned citizens. Together, we work collaboratively to address public safety concerns and build a stronger, safer Deanwood for everyone.
